Aqua – RI and SP Expiry Alerts

How to set up alerts for Reserved Instance and Savings Plan expiry.

Overview

This feature helps prevent missed renewals when your Reserved Instances or Savings Plans are approaching expiry. Alerts are sent at the following intervals before each RI or SP expires:

  • 90 days before

  • 60 days before

  • 30 days before

  • 7 days before

  • On the expiry date

Notifications are supported via Email and Slack. Microsoft Teams support is planned for a future update.

Notification channels can be configured from either Ripple or Wave.


Setup

From Ripple

  1. Click Notification Settings in the Ripple left menu

  2. Click + Create Channel in the top right

  3. Fill in all required fields and click Submit in the bottom right

  4. The saved channel will appear in the notification channel list

  5. This channel will become available for selection in Aqua's alert settings

From Wave

  1. Click Preferences in the Wave left menu

  2. Under Notification and Alerts, click + Add Channel

  3. Fill in all required fields and click Submit in the bottom right

  4. The saved channel will appear in the notification channel list

  5. This channel will become available for selection in Aqua's alert settings

In Aqua

  1. Click RI Management or SP Management from the Aqua left menu

  2. Click Manage RI Management in the top right of the screen — notification channels configured in Ripple or Wave will be listed here

  3. Select the notification channel you want to use

  4. Setup is now complete


Notes

Notification channels are scoped to the platform you used to access Aqua. Channels created in Ripple are shown when accessing Aqua via Ripple; channels created in Wave are shown when accessing Aqua via Wave.
