How to Use Wave for Advanced Cost Visibility and Management

Overview

This guide walks you through the features available in Wave. Wave is designed for Ripple users who want more granular cost data and flexible configuration options — for their own organisation or for their customers.

Up to the past 1 year — specify any custom date range

Data export

By specifying a date range in the calendar, filtering by service, and switching between daily and monthly views, you can get a precise picture of your cost status. The selected period and filters can be exported as data or as an image.

Display specifications:

  • Data transfer charges for services such as EC2 and RDS are displayed as a separate AWS Data Transfer line item

  • EBS (Amazon Elastic Block Store) charges are included within the EC2 line item


Report

Reports

At the start of each month, the previous month's cost report is displayed below the graph, showing usage and cost details at the individual service level.

The report includes:

  • Service name

  • Description — region and service details

  • Usage quantity

  • Usage charge


Billing Statement

The billing statement displays the total charges per account, including service totals and items such as support charges.


Cost Forecast and Budget Notifications

Configure budgets based on actuals and forecasted costs:

You can also drill down into the current month's actuals on a daily basis, with a graph showing cost by service compared to the previous month.
