Overview

This guide walks you through how to add a Wave user in Ripple. Wave allows you to visualise cloud costs on a per-Billing Group basis. Wave accounts are also issued per Billing Group.

Wave provides the following features:

  • Daily cost data (graphs)

  • Monthly cost detail data (reports)

  • Alert notifications when costs exceed a set threshold

  • Grouping functionality to aggregate costs by account or tag

How to Create a Wave User

  1. From the left menu, click Accounts and Groups > Wave User Management

  2. Click +Create Wave User in the top right corner

  3. Enter the email address and select the Billing Group to link

  4. Click Register Account to complete ✅

Control What is Displayed in Wave

You can control which items are visible in Wave directly from Ripple. Adjust the visibility settings according to your operational needs.

  • Reserved Instance display (show/hide)

  • Invoice details (show/hide)

  • Daily graph (show/hide)

By default, Wave for Reseller has limited features enabled. The following are available by default:

  • Monthly data details (report function)

  • Aggregated daily data for all accounts in the Billing Group (dashboard function)

  • Grouping functionality to aggregate costs by account or tag

To enable additional features — such as per-account or per-group daily graphs, RI recommendations, or RI utilisation rate — please update the settings from Ripple.

Viewing Multiple Billing Groups in One Wave Account

By using the Access Group feature, you can group multiple Billing Groups together and view them under a single Wave account.

  1. From Wave User Management, click the button in the top right corner and select Access Group Management

  2. Select the Billing Groups you want to group and create an Access Group

  3. When adding a Wave user, select the Access Group you created

Important Notes

  • Wave's daily data is retrieved and updated daily based on the latest cost data from each vendor (AWS CUR, Azure Partner Center API, GCP API). On rare occasions, daily data already reflected mid-month may be updated or revised by the vendor — any such changes will be reflected in Wave automatically. Please be aware of this when reviewing data.

  • Daily data and monthly report data in Wave are finalised at the time of invoice creation, at which point the final costs will be displayed.
