Ripple – Setting Up Commitment Manager

How to set up the Commitment Manager in Ripple.

Overview

The Commitment Manager allows you to enable billing groups to make purchases and see recommendations, as well as track and manage commitments directly through Ripple. This guide walks you through the steps to get it set up and ready to use.


Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have:

  • An active account on AWS, GCP, Azure

  • Access to the Ripple Dashboard (contact your admin if you do not see it)

  • A Payer Account added in Ripple (if this has not yet been done, please complete the steps here)

  • The necessary permissions to configure integrations

If you are on AWS, please ensure that:

  • AWS Organizations is enabled From the AWS Console, navigate to the AWS Organizations console and choose Create an Organization.

  • AWS Cost Explorer is enabled From the AWS Console, navigate to the Billing and Cost Management console and choose Launch Cost Explorer.


Steps

Step 1: Enable the Commitment Manager

From the Ripple Dashboard, navigate to Commitment > Guaranteed Commitment Manager and toggle it to Enabled > Continue to setup for the billing group you wish to configure

Step 2: Connect Your Cloud Account

Select your cloud provider from the list of Supported Cloud Providers, then click Set Up Commitment Manager.

Step 3: Add Your Payer Account

Enter your 12-digit AWS Account ID, then select Install via CloudFormation.

Step 4: Install via CloudFormation and Verify

  1. Under the Launch CloudFormation > Launch in AWS Console button to open the stack in your AWS Console.

  2. Complete the stack creation and wait for the status to show CREATE_COMPLETE (this will take less than a minute).

  3. Return to Ripple and click Continue.

  4. You will be prompted to verify your installation — once successful, click Continue.

Step 5: Ensure AWS Cost Explorer is Enabled

  1. Click Check Status and confirm it shows Connected, then click Continue

    If it shows Not Connected, click Open AWS Cost Explorer to be redirected to the AWS Console. Enable Cost Explorer, return to Ripple, click Check Status again and confirm it shows Connected

Step 6: Set Up the Cost and Usage Report (CUR)

  1. Select your preferred CUR setup method:

    • Use an existing CUR

    • Generate a new CUR — click Generate a New CUR > Proceed

  2. Click Verify / Generate CUR to begin the verification process

    Please note: AWS may take up to 24 hours to generate and make a new CUR available. Once you click Verify / Generate CUR, you can continue onboarding immediately — verification will continue in the background and the status will update automatically in Service Management. No further action is required at this stage

  3. Click Continue to complete the onboarding

Please allow more than 24 hours for the CUR / to begin gathering data and analysis. Once complete, you will be able to log in to Wave to view recommendations and execute purchases.
