Wave – MFA (Multi-factor Authentication)

How to set up, use, and deactivate MFA in Wave.

Written by Yo Fukuda

Overview

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is supported in Wave. You can use any of the following authenticator apps:

  • Authy

  • Google Authenticator

  • Microsoft Authenticator

  • Okta Verify

⚠️ The recovery code issued during initial setup cannot be reissued after registration is complete. Please save it somewhere safe before finishing setup.

Registration

  1. Click Settings on the top right of Wave

  2. Under Security, click Activate next to Multi-factor authentication

  3. A QR code used when setting up 2-step authentication will be given

  4. Scan the QR code with your chosen authenticator app

  5. Enter the first code shown in the app into the 1st verification code field

  6. Wait 10–30 seconds for a new code, then enter it into the 2nd verification code field

  7. Click Confirm in the bottom right to complete setup

📝 Steps 5 and 6 may vary slightly depending on your authenticator app.

🔑 Your recovery code will be shown at this point. Save it now — it cannot be reissued once you close this screen.

Logging In

  1. Enter your ID and password on the Wave login page

  2. You will be automatically redirected to the MFA token input page — enter your authenticator code to log in

Deactivation

  1. Click Settings in the top right of Wave

  2. Under Security, click Deactivate next to Multi-factor authentication

If MFA is already active, the status shown will be Deactivate rather than Activate.

  1. Click Deactivate to confirm

  2. You will see a confirmation message: "MFA has been deactivated"
