Overview
This guide walks you through how to use the Access Group feature in Wave. Previously, each Wave account was managed on a one-to-one basis with a single Billing Group. With Access Groups, you can now manage the usage fees of multiple Billing Groups under a single Wave account.
Example use case: If Billing Groups are created per department, you can create a single Wave account that provides a consolidated view of usage fees across multiple departments.
Scope | Unit | Managed in Wave |
Per department | Billing Group | Wave Account |
Company-wide | Multiple Billing Groups | Wave Access Group |
How to Create an Access Group
From Wave User Management, click ... in the top right corner and select Access Group Management
Select +Create Access Group > choose the Billing Group(s) you want to group and click Create
When adding a Wave user, select the Access Group you created and create the Wave account
Once the Wave account is created with an Access Group, usage fees for all included Billing Groups will be displayed together.
Wave → Aqua
When accessing Aqua from a Wave account linked to an Access Group, data from multiple Billing Groups will also be displayed in Aqua.
This is a useful feature for those who want to manage costs comprehensively across multiple Billing Groups.
Important Notes
Access Groups can also be used when you want to manage both account-based and tag-based usage fees in a single Wave account.
When viewing invoice details for a Wave Access Group, costs will be displayed per Billing Group.
RBAC is not supported for Wave Access Groups.
The Group feature available in Wave cannot be used when using an Access Group.
